Years of Making Coming into Realization

The concept for the 2014 Volkswagen XL1 goes as far back as 2002 when VW engineers first revealed to the world that they were going to introduce a super-efficient VW vehicle. That was a 1-litre concept car while now with the 2014 VW XL1 the car is going to come to reality. The concept foretold that this car, if ever released, will be able to run 100km with just one 1-liter of fuel and that is just the similar kind of mileage (235mpg) the 2013 XL1 is going to provide. But the actual concept of the XL1 began during the year 2009, when the concept of VW's L1 was revealed.

The Speed and Other Specs

Much more like the L1 concept car of 2009, the 2014 VW XL1 is going to be powered with a 2-cylinder turbo-diesel engine. It will be an 800cc engine that can operate and deliver 47bhp – which is really very low. There is also the 7-speed DGG transmission system while the speed will be a major let down. The top speed of 74.6 mph is not going to satisfy most car users while the acceleration speed is also very down – as it will take 32 seconds to reach 50 mph.
