Volkswagen has a name in making small vans. It also built Microbus and latest Vanagon and Eurovan. Hippi van also has a name but the models made later on were not too attractive to catch the audience towards them, because VW never made a very outstanding competition. To overcome this situation the company introduced the Volkswagen Routan.

Features of Volkswagen Routan

The designer work on Routan and make it in a unique way, but he didn't forget the Chrysler formula in making its general shape. Designer make the front and back of the Routan using Teutonic makeover pattern. So the Routan's cabine become more fashionable than Chrysler vans in the market in its first two years, with better seating and modified featuring of dash, VW's signature with red and blue backlighting. So made the Volkswagen more impressive and unique then its Chrysler siblings in the early years, but now Chrysler is also modified ad it resemble with the Routan in many ways.

Trims of Volkswagen

The Volkswagen is a front wheel drive and Volkswagen Routan has the capacity of seven passengers. It is a minivan which is available in S, SE, SEL and SEL premium trim levels.

Its S model has 16 inch wheels made of steel , unique air conditioning and second row captain's chairs, and the third row has folding seats and screen touch audio operating system make it very comfortable and unique.

The SE model has large alloy wheels; power side doors and a power driver seat enhance its features. It has leatherette seating trim and heated front seats, rear sunshades and Bluetooth make it more luxurious.

SEL has tri zone climate control system, leather seating and with a rearview camera, second row seats are heated and it also has iPod interface which make it more comfortable. Xenon headlights, keyless ignition/entry, modified sound system and driver memory setting make this version very outstanding and luxurious. Moreover a rear seat entertainment system and hard drive based navigation system is also available on all the base trim.

How Volkswagen Routan Works

Every Volkswagen has a 3.6 liter V6 engine and 283 horsepower and 260 pound feet of torque. A six speed automatic and front wheel drive are standard.  It has high level of stability and traction control, antilock disc brakes, front side impact airbags, driver side knee airbags and side curtain airbags that cover all the three rows.

Fuel Economy

Its fuel economy is 17 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway and average is 20 mpg. And it goes from zero to 60 mph in 8.3 seconds and it is just a half second slower than the Honda Odyssey and Toyota Sienna.
